Where do your donation dollars go?
If you make a donation to the Leadership Minor, your generosity will help us to offer services and materials that tuition can’t cover. We know that the Leadership Minor experience is far more than a series of classes and we would like to offer programs and events that make the Leadership Minor even more connected to the everyday lives of its students. When you make a donation, your dollars will go to support some of the following areas:
- The Coffee Talk Series – a way for students to join the Leadership community and to feel they are part of something more than a minor. The Coffee Talk series is vital to this student community of leaders. It gives them a place to connect, learn new things outside of the classroom, and dig deeper into real life leadership issues. Your donation will help to cover stipends for guest speakers, provide community-building materials, and pay for the handouts and name tags used at each event.
- Up-to-Date Leadership Resources– help purchase books for the Leadership Minor Library or provide cutting-edge training for instructors to keep up-to-date. The field of Leadership changes every year, your donation ensures that instructors are kept up to date on the changes through subscriptions to professional leadership journals, attending leadership trainings, and working with leadership consultants.
- Create a transition program for graduating seniors – help students plan for their transition from student to citizen by providing individualized career and community-engagement planning. Your donation will help undergraduates better prepare for their new roles as citizen-leaders. Instead of being overwhelmed by the transition from college student to community members, students will create a path of intentional engagement, work with a transition advisor even after they graduate, and be connected with Leadership Alumni across the world.
- Support a vibrant alumni community – a place for alumni to continue learning leadership skills and reflecting on their leadership journey. Your donation will help us to begin to create a community of connected Leadership Alumni. By using technology to create a web-based Alumni Portal, offering continued communication and leadership support, and connecting alumni across the world, the Leadership Minor won’t have to end with the capstone class, but will continue to support its alumni throughout their lives.
Donate today and the legacy you leave is priceless.
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT:
Matthew Pryor
When I was a freshman, I had a difficult time transitioning from my small home town of New Ulm, MN to the 26,000 Undergraduate population of the University of Minnesota. In order to size down the University I joined a fraternity on campus, but realizing something was missing in my leadership development, I enrolled in the leadership minor. MORE
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT!
Katie Jurgenson
My leadership journey up to this point has been a very involved one, but a different one. I started out in the 1000 level class and before I knew it I was working in the office, I was a TA for multiple classes and I was deep in my passion for understanding and improving the Leadership Minor. While working through the summer I was allowed to further my understanding of the history, processes and issues surrounding the Minor. At that point I became completely involved in the future of the Minor. MORE
